Thankful Thursday: Mike, Val and Emerson Hall

i
miss you like crazy

This week I have been really reflective on my sweet Cousin Val's family! My cousin married such a great guy. His name is Mike and we call eachother "Janet" it is too long of a story to describe but basically I called him the wrong name at Brad and Staci's wedding and so he started calling me the wrong name, and I knew that I would remember his name always if I called him the same thing, so I do! hahahha Dumb i know, but it has endeared us to eachother!

Val has been one of my best friends before she even knew what best friends were! She was my little baby that I would carry around with me... I would take her on stroller rides.. I would walk with her to the gas station in Spanish Fork and buy her candy.

When they moved to Orem and she grew up a little we would spend our whole summer's together. We would ride our bikes down to 7-11 and get White Cherry Slurpees and Laffy Taffy's all the time. I even had Val with me when I totaled Grandma's car before I was 16 (we wont go into that!).

Basically Val, Amy and Jamie (all my cousins) were my little adopted sisters that I dragged to the Tiffin room at ZCMI, movies, Mi Ranchito, anywhere that I could spent all my babysitting money on them. We played house, store and fought a lot!

As adults, Val has become my lunch buddy and I have loved having lunch with her and Emerson.

I am so thankful for Val. She has a huge heart and is ALWAYS wanting to help with any project that is too much for you to do alone.

Mike has moved her away from all of us to go to Dental School in Arizona for 4 years! It has been a hard week for us all realizing that she may never be permanately back to us... but so thankful that there are airplanes that can get her here quickly!

I have the cutest pictures of Val and I from chilhood that will be amoung my posts when I learn how to scan! We were adorable (ok, I was a little awkward looking, but she was adorable). Val, I am thankful for cell phones, blogs and planes that will make you being 12 hours away seen so much closer.
Thanks for always being my WITTO WOWIE! The memories we have together are priceless and I will never forget the void you helped fill in my life by taking the place of the little sister I always asked Santa for every Christmas and prayed for every night.

YOU ARE MISSED!
"Janet", we are so proud of you and your hard work! Val we are proud that you are being brave when we aren't. And Emerson you better stay just as cute and adorable till the next time we see you.... don't grow!
I LOVE YOU FOREVER!

I talked to our brave, positive and faithful Jill today and found out that last night Emily lost the majority of her hair. They had talked to her about it and so instead of freaking out about it... she made it a beauty shop night and let the nurse take off the little remaining so it wouldn't be so itchy!

Doesn't she pull off a hat well! I think she is simply adorable though I must admit that I sobbed while reading the entry and wished I was as brave as Jill was. You can see a video of her at http://www.keepmovingahead.blogspot.com/. Keep praying for her so all the "ITCHYS" that she gets from the medicines will go away!

WAY TO BE JILL AND EM!

Wedding Wednesday: Justin and Alyssa

Saturday August 16th was my little cousin Alyssa's Wedding. I say little cause I literally feel like I was just babysitting her 8 yrs ago! Oh wait.. I was :) My sweet cousin met a great catch and had a ginormous ring on her finger before she even graduated High school! Now that is impressive!

Her wedding day was perfect in every way until the mean ole friends decorated Justin's car and chapped his hyde! hahhaha I hate the whole car decorating tradition too.. I think cake smashing, garter throwing and car decorating should be banned! Who wants to have a mess to clean up (whether on their face or their car)... I sure don't! I guess that what being 30 and single does to you... bah humbug! hahha

I can't wait to share the highlights of their day through the fab pictures my camera took. Here is an intro to my extended family, ENJOY!

This is Auntie Kay with her grandbaby Emerson. Oh, how I adore Emerson!

The Clegg Family. Rob on the back right will be getting married to Rocio in 3 weeks then there will only be Chels and yan (bottom left) remaining and Kay will have several years till that happens (I will probably still be single then too, so I will be there for you Kay!!)
Lyss hugging her sweet Mom, my Aunti Kay!
Lyss was really lucky to have Gma and Gpa Schroeppel there, gramps has been ill lately and it is a miracle that he has been able to come up so often lately.

This is my Aunti Debbie and her husband Kevin
( sometimes I mix up their names and call them aunt devin and uncle kebbie!)
See why I love this kid! This is adorable Emerson on his Uncle Brad's shoulder....PRICELESS!
Emers Mommy Val. She is holding my cousin Kylie's baby Irelyn
What a gorgeous picture of the bride and her Mommy
My Uncle Mark and I were having WAY TOO MUCH fun with Irey, If you can't tell, we put the Baked Lasagna sign on her and had her holding the to go box... we were laughing pretty hard
(real mature I know!)

The Flowers were hanging from the umbrellas instead of being on a center piece.. so cute!

This is mini me... ever wonder what I looked like before time corrupted me... here she is, my neice Chloe.. such a mess.. but isn't she cute!
My nephew Dylan
(how could you not be smiling, when you get coldstone ice cream!)
This one's for you James.. what a priceless picture of you and Gramps and Hallie
My Aunti Leslie. She is the wedding dress sales person of the century! If you want a low price and someone to tell you the truth and get you into the dress that you look the greatest in.. she is your woman! Verionca Michael's is her place.. check it out!
So glad this baby isn't my little Jesse's but isn't she gorgeous! Love you Jess.
Last but not least (and you will be hearing more about them in my blog tommorrow) this is Lyssa's oldest sister and her hubby Mike (who I call Janet and he call's me Janet..long story) and of course baby Emerson.

As you can tell from my countless pictures we had a family filled day... I spared ALOT of pictures but you get the feeling of who I am related to and why I love them all so much!

Alyssa, thanks for letting me be a part of you beautiful day. I love you my Witto Wyss. Welcome to a kooky clan Justin!

Memory Monday: American Idol 2007

American Idol Tour 2007: Utah Style

We are weird and we are proud of it!

Overjoyed to be with my favorite season of the IDOL!

I was looking through some pictures today and laughing my head off!! I found these pictures of when Melba Latu and I went to the American Idol concert. The 2007 group was my favorite! We had a blast!

Melba played a game with me called "What's your reaction" and then named a few of the performers... here are the pictures of what I think when I hear there names:

Melinda Doolittle

Sanjaya

Chris Richardson

Blake Lewis

Melba and I at the Tour bus

Don't you just love how pictures bring back such fun times and memories. Who cares if they are bad pictures of us... we were having a swell time and loved playing the game :) Thanks Toria (my friend from JetBlue) for giving me the tickets! We got good use out of them!

Friday: Emily and Jacqueline's Bone Marrow Transplant Day

The Heaps Family Heros.... CONTINUED!
Mom, Jill attending to sister donor Jacqueline

Daddy, Matt attending to Emily our dear transplant recipient!

Today was the big day where Jacqueline gave the much needed bone marrow to her sister Emily for the second time. Today was Emily's Bone Marrow birthday.

I wasn't able to be there at the hospital today but throught the updates it sounds as though everything went smoothly and the troopers made it through.

Jacqueline had 40-50 holes drilled on either side of her back to get her bone marrow out and then they put it in a machine and then into an IV looking bag and it goes into Emily on a drip. Sounds like all your prayers today for a smooth go of things were answered!

On their blog they said, "As we were in Emily's hospital room tending to two daughters that were at the time feeling very very sick, someone asked Thomas, "So Thomas, how are you doing?". He replied back with a smile on his face and a shrug of the shoulders, "Well, a lot better than my sisters...".
We love you Heaps! Thanks for being so brave and giving Emily a new lease on life. All my readers prayers are with you still and always!

Fun Times Fridays: Full Moon Lift

Check out that cool full moon! It was Awesome!

Tonight was a spontaneous night with the Pectol family whom I adore. It started out with Amy, Scotty and I at Noodles and company and then Dairy Queen planning our cruise and ended with Mama Pectol, Amy and I on a beautifully crisp summer night enjoying the full moon ski lift at Sundance.

I really am terrified of heights but loved chatting it up with these fun ladies for our 45 min lift through the beautiful mountains in Sundance. What a perfect Friday adventure! I thought that we might run into the Cullens (from the Twilight series)but my Edward didn't come! :(

Thanks for treating us to a great night Robin. Sure do love and appreciate you!

Thankful Thursday: Kelly Stayner

As you will all see that even with all these pictures being at girls camp.. she is still beautiful and some of my GREATEST FUNNEST MEMORIES are of Kelly and I at camp. Now on to the details of one of my dearest friends Kelly Arlene Fowler Stayner.I met Kelly at 12 yrs old, this was one of the hardest times of my life because we had just moved into a new house, new ward, and lots of changes! Yes, Kelly was my first beehive leader and stayed with me in YW through my youth. (For those of you reading this that don't know what YW stands for it is the youth group for girls ages 12-18 in The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints)

I learned a lot from this woman. I spent a lot of time at her house and I have even seen her husband in his underwear! hahaha

I thought it was about time that I wrote about her because even now she is a major part of my life. Just tonight she came and saved me after the wedding, bringing her husband's truck so I could have some way to haul all this stuff home. She is ALWAYS willing to help me. She is a saint!

When I say I love Kelly it goes even beyond her.... I love her FAMILY! They have always treated me like one of them. Here are some of the few things that I am thankful for:

  • Her family loves me unconditionally for the person that I am.

  • Always a steady-constant in my life.

  • Given so generously to me and my family.

  • Kel always texts me and checks up on me.

  • She gives great advice.

  • She so candidly talks to me about life's realities.

  • She is REAL! She doesn't try to be something she is not. If she wants to drink a diet coke and eat chocolate chips for breakfast she will!

  • She has shown me how to keep a home.

  • Jerry and the kids are also loving and accepting of me too.

  • Her extended family is accepting of me as well.

  • She shares her multiple talents with others.

  • She has even gotten out of bed at night after I have text her that I was having a bad day to go on a walk with me, Food runs as a youth at midnight on Sunday/Monday night, Also laser tag at midnight! Oh the memories!

In high school she was known as Smelly Flower (nickname because her name was Kelly Fowler) and I have adopted that cause I thought it was awesome! Smelly Flower, I love you so dearly! Thanks for always being a true friend to me and just because I tease you that you are old cause you were my leader as a youth and I am now 30, it's just because I love you so much and want to heckle you! Heck, I babysat Jordlyn at 1 and she will graduate next year! :)

You are a true woman through and through and I celebrate and am so thankful for the person you are and the person that you have helped me become. I love you Kel!

Wedding Wednesday: The preparations begin...

Here is a look of Ann and Adam's Engagements and Bridals... Tommorrow is the big day that I have been wedding planning for since May!! Everything is done! Everything is bought! The family dinner is eaten! Bridesmaids and groomsman have their outfits! Now all we have to do is get them married and get to Sun River Garden's in Orem for our planned event!

We hired an amazing cater, Jean, who will be catering enough food for 750 people. Ann's Bishops wife is doing the flowers. I am doing the table centerpieces (we didn't want to go with the ones they offer in the package). Cakes by Dawna is doing the wedding cake. Albertsons is doing the groom cake. Kristen McMullin with KM Photography has done a FABULOUS job with all the pictures. My Aunt Leslie at Veronica Michaels handled our dress alterations, shoes, tuxes for the lil guys, mothers dress etc and Ann and her Mom got their jewlery designed by Monica.. so Pretty!

At the dinner tonight Ann's family who has been amazing to work with through this whole process made a presentation to me for all my hard work. I am not a big public thank you person, I get all embarrased when I am publically thanked but the Bahrs went above and beyond as a thank you for me. They got Monica Whiting to make me one of her famous, gorgeous Crystal necklaces and then in the card they gave me $100. I was all ferschnickity in front of all the guests. What a precious suprise! I have wanted one of Monica's beautiful necklaces for a long time and the fact that they tracked Monica down in Arizona to get me something so thoughtful made my day!!

Of course I will have to post way more pics tommorrow but here are a my favs! (So many to choose from!

We defied all tradition and took all the BRIDE/GROOM pictures before the wedding day... so we had to have fun with Adam. I made him cover his eyes... no peeking.. and he got to see Ann for the first time infront of the cameras!! So darling!

Ann was LOVING the fact that tons of kids were stopping and taking pictures of her.. She ate it up! I was singing her the song "I've been dreaming of a true loves kiss." from Enchanted. I loved the fact that she took time out to talk to these random, curious, little girls and take a picture with them! That is what type of a person she is!We ended the night with a rush down to Saltair. It was beautiful at sunset but besides my brother Pat, I haven't smelled anything so horrible in my life! :)

Yes picture overload but aren't they such a neat couple! Stay tuned for the actual wedding reception pictures!
